Prepare Cake
Prepare and bake cake as directed on pack.
Allow to cool.
Filling and Icing
Using an electric mixer, beat together cream cheese and contents of icing sachet from Green's Orange Poppyseed Cake Mix pack for 2 minutes on medium speed.
Cut cooled cake in half horizontally using a serrated knife.
Spread half the cream cheese mixture in the middle and use the remaining half as icing on top of the cake.
Candied Oranges
In a medium skillet, combine the water and sugar and bring to the boil.
Add the orange slices and cook over moderate heat, turning occasionally, until the liquid is reduced to a thin syrup and the orange slices are translucent, about 20 minutes.
Decorate
Allow candied orange pieces to cool before arranging orange slices around top of cake.
